SEO Guide – How To Link The Right Way!

Hi everyone!

It seems like you are all happy with my SEO Guide series, so that’s why I will be doing some more blogposts in the same series with small tips for every blogpost you write.

Internal and external linking

Todays blogpost will be about internal and external linking. Just to refresh everyone’s memory if you are not sure what the difference is between internal and external linking. Internal linking is when you link to a page on you blog, it could be an old blogpost or something else. External linking is when you link to another website, which could be where you bought your bag or something.

How to write your links

You often see people write; you can buy the bag here. It could also be; read more about my thoughts on this product here.

The reason this is bad SEO is that Google doesn’t know what “here” is. Google doesn’t know “here” is referring back to the bag you were talking about earlier, which is on your picture.

Instead you should write something like; you can buy the bag at H&M and then make “bag at H&M” the link. It tells Google that the link is probably referring to H&M’s website.

It also counts for your internal linking so this could be; read my review on Real Techniques Duo-Fiber brushes instead of just here. It will again make sure that Google knows exactly what the link is about.

Remember people are smart

We should all remember to have a little trust in each other. I think most people on the internet know that a text with underline is usually a link so you don’t need “here”, you can also guide your readers in your writing.

I hope this little blogpost was helpful and please let me know if you have any request for future blogposts.

I’m definitely guilty of linking ‘here’ so this is definitely something I’ll be taking on board. Thanks!

You are welcome. I think most bloggers are guilty in doing this, I really have to think twice when I link 😉
