 photo SEOGuideHowToLinkTheRightWay_zps21b645a6.jpg

Hi everyone!

It seems like you are all happy with my SEO Guide series, so that’s why I will be doing some more blogposts in the same series with small tips for every blogpost you write.

Internal and external linking

Todays blogpost will be about internal and external linking. Just to refresh everyone’s memory if you are not sure what the difference is between internal and external linking. Internal linking is when you link to a page on you blog, it could be an old blogpost or something else. External linking is when you link to another website, which could be where you bought your bag or something.

How to write your links

You often see people write; you can buy the bag here. It could also be; read more about my thoughts on this product here.

The reason this is bad SEO is that Google doesn’t know what “here” is. Google doesn’t know “here” is referring back to the bag you were talking about earlier, which is on your picture.

Instead you should write something like; you c...

SEO Guide for WordPress

Hi everyone!

This blogpost is a bit late, but here it finally is; SEO Guide for WordPress! I already did a blogpost for people using Google Blogger and an introduction for SEO if you are interested in that.

With WordPress you don’t have the advantage of Google already knowing your blog, so you have to do some work for it to be noticed. I downloaded two plugins, but you could probably do it all with one plugin I just like both for different things.

All in One SEO

The first plugin is All in One SEO, which I use for my Google Analytics tracking code in and it’s also where I gave my blog it’s title, meta description and keywords.

Go to Plugins -> Search All in One SEO -> Install

all in one seo plugin

Now you are ready to use the plugin. I would keep most of the things as they are, except write the title, meta description and keywords as mention and then you have some fields for Google Analytics, Google Plus, Pinterest, etc.

blog title and description

Yoast SEO

The second plugin is Yoast SEO, this is probably the one you will use ...

Beginner’s Guide to SEO: blogging help

seo

SEO also known as search engine optimization is something not all bloggers think about, they maybe don’t know how to do it, or they are already doing it without thinking about it.

SEO can be very complicated, but there are some easy tricks you can do to improve you SEO on your blog. I’m an educated multimedia designer, so I have learned a couple of things in school that every blogger should be able to figure out. I hope this Beginner’s Guide to SEO can help you.

Difference between WordPress and Blogger

First thing first, there is a huge difference in whether you are using WordPress or Blogger as your blogging platform. Blogger is made by Google and therefore a lot more SEO friendly compared to WordPress, also Google will know your blog from the first day you start it since it will be in Google’s database.

If you have a self-hosted or a WordPress blog you will have a little more work to do since Google doesn’t know your blog and it’s not made to please Google.

Basic SEO

How To: Permalinks In WordPress

working_your_permalinks

Hi people!

Today is going to be about permalinks in WordPress. When you start a Google Blogger blog, you are sure that Google know your blog and will try to make it search friendly. When you start a WordPress blog, then it’s your own job to do these things. One thing you can do is to look at your permalinks. When people search for something on Google like “About Tanja Mortensen” then Google crawl links and try to find something that looks similar to the search. This is where permalinks are important! How should Google know what tanjamortensen.com/?p=123 is? If it’s called tanjamortensen.com/about, then Google will know this site has something to do with about Tanja Mortensen. This doesn’t solve all SEO problems, but will make a start.

How to change your permalinks

Go to your settings, permalinks and then choose a way to show your post-URL or decided for yourself like I did, I made mine tanjamortensen.com/category/post-title...

Blogger vs. WordPress

blogger_wordpress

Hi lovely people!

Today is going to be my first post for the blogging tips series. I’m going to start out with “Blogger vs. WordPress” as the title says. All of you who are reading this right now are probably already blogging so that’s why I’m focusing on WordPress vs. Blogger. Remember this is all based on my experience with both WordPress and Blogger and some people might see it different.

Google blogger

Google’s blogger is the easiest way to go if you are totally new and don’t know a thing about the internet. Blogger’s newest design makes it easy to navigate and there are a lot of free things and help to be found on the internet. Blogger also provides some things as site statics, SEO and an account to comments on other people’s blog that leads right back to your blog.

WordPress

WordPress has to different ways to start a blog, a free one and a paid self-hosted one...

Blogging Tips Series

Hi!

A new week has begun and I have decided on trying to do some different posts this week. I know I’m new in the blogger world and don’t have much experience within the area. Since I’m studying Multimedia Design & Communication I do have some knowledge in this field and that’s why I want to do a little series where I post some tips for new bloggers, but hopefully also some tips for some of the bloggers who have been doing this for a while.

I have been blogging once before using Google’s blogspot (tanjaslookbook.blogspot.com) and right now I’m using WordPress CMS to manage this blog so I have a little experience with both systems.

As you can see I have started this blog, but I have also helped Christina Thorup setting up her blog and I own tanjamortensen.dk where you can see my portfolio if you are curious.

My plan is to write about everything from blogger systems, SEO, Google analytics, themes, marketing, domain names, design, coding, etc.
